Express Entry is an electronic management system introduced on Jan 1st 2015, replacing the older “first come first serve” system for permanent residency applications. It creates a pool of qualified candidates from which employers, provinces and territories may recruit and select skilled immigrants. Highest qualified candidate in the pool gets Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. Candidates applying through this system must qualify in at least one of the following sub-classes:

• Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
• Federal Skills Trade (FST)
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Provincial Nomination Program (PNP)

Process:

• Aspiring candidates start with creating an ONLINE profile for eligibility on IRCC website.
• Submit their candidature within 60 days of creating account.
• Candidates are ranked through the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
• Once past the periodical cutoff (as per Ministerial Instructions) they are invited to apply.
